    Thanks guys for letting me reminisce about these adds. I remember as a kid looking through copies of "The Saturday Evening Post" given to me by a neighbour during the late 50's and early 60's. Growing up in a country town in Australia meant I was never going to see much of the real thing.
    I am sure they were the reason I developed a lifelong interest in both illustration/design and cars.

    If you will indulge me a little longer, in the 1970's I studied graphic design in Sydney and one of our lecturers was an american, Art Renshaw. He was a great illustrator and told me he had worked at a studio where some of these auto illustrations had been produced. He had some great stories to tell, I remember one afternoon we must have talked for about a half hour on pre WWII customs and his buddy who had perfected clutchless gearchanges in his roadster.

    As great as modern computers are, I don't think they will ever capture the qualities of original art.
