That is such a very subtle difference, from the side 42-48 yet from the front still 41. Not trying to get ahead of your work, but being built before the 52-54 Merc. headlight rim option, will you french the stock 41 rims or was there another favorite used back then instead?

I have really enjoyed this post, I too am building a 41 , but i am not cloning any certain car, but trying to build it as traditional as possible.I must say it is refreshing to see someone who knows the proper way to shrink metal, as you did on the front fender. nice work.

I think it's impolite to ignore question's. Thank's finkd. Karl, the original headlight rings were used.

What are the details of the lens plastic/acrylic material that you used?

I would like to do a set for my 48 ford.

Plastic is extremely friendly to work with. My source is estreetplastic.com. The 12"X12" sheet cost less than $50.00 shipped. I still have lots of it left. Check post #353 for the glue.

I just find it so cool that George had the exact grille you need. Serendipity.

Now I can see a little better what it want's. Easy does it, I don't want to make more work for myself than is needed.

I like your drum-bench. It's a great idea to get things closer to eye-level in order to work on them and this is a clever use of objects found in the garage to make an elevated work space.

I have been following the story of Valley Custom on Facebook. Almost every photo showing Neil, Clayton or Tad is of them working right off the concrete floor, mostly just squatting. I'm with you Jer, and I aint no sissy either.

I'm going to have make a frame that mimic's the shape of the grille opening. Today we would call it a header panel lip.

Here are the piece's being formed in the vice and on the bench. Here is the completed lip. It will be welded to the metal that surround's the grille to form the grille opening.
