For the time frame,,rear tires 1950s started getting some wider tires an 15in. 5up to 6in was in thing an 16 out if your hotrodding.1960s 6to7in+, 15 an 14in. was getting in the mix fronts could even be 13rims, end of 60s 8+. Only thing using under 6in rears normally an maybe 16in was flathead V8s n fours. OHV V8s looked for wide for some bit.=16 an 5in wide dose not belong for the most part on OHV V8 powered hot rod. I know today some of you kids look around at all the rim higths an think, sure 16rim,but no those 16s were going out like bigger then 7in. headlights were out of style an in the trash. How well things worked had a lot to do with what hot rod guys picked to use. So wider rear tires for bit/an looks an smaller 7in. head lights{ unlike the big old ones, actually worked well plus looked much more aero. Pick your time,or mix it up an look off the mark. Extra note on wide rims, better to have match or bigger then tread, rims smaller the tread looked to be on wrong rim but was done some do to low $.
Firestone Transforce HT2 215/85R16 (tiresize.com) I really like the tread pattern of this Firestone myself
I bought the cheapest bias ply look LT tires I found in Europe. Fortune FSR112. Bad choice. 7.00-16 12 ply and F load range. The are heavy and very rigid. Impossible to fit on my 4’’ wire wheels. All I did is scrtach the fresh powder coating.
