Take a look at the pics and tell me if the "ears" of this rear main seal are supposed to stay as they are. I have not seen one like this before and it is a neoprene replacement for the rope. It is for a Dodge 270 Poly engine. The "ears" are only on the cap and not the block. I would think that they are there to compress when the cap is torqued to make a good seal. Just want to be sure before putting the crank in. Thanks for any replies.
I think a little lube on the seal and small amount silicone on the mating surface would do it but I've never saw that particular setup. Some of the experts will chime in shortly. Lotta knowledge on here
