These plates were made during the war, because metal was scarce. Illinois and Montana (maybe other states) made these plates out of soy bean (1944 ). The soy bean plate wasn't a good thing because the cows and horses chewed (ate) them plus weather damaged them. The plate isn't perfect, it's little warped not bad, also edges are rough.
