Considering what I paid for my bare block alone, I might get a couple of them and change them once a year.
You ask, is your car on the road yet, and I say "your kidding right"!

How’s that going to work? It’s not electrically connected to the block/heads

Anode and cathode need to be electrically connected by a wire or direct contact. Just plopping two bits of dissimilar metal in a bucket of water isn’t going to stop the one corroding.

Won’t it lay on top of the tubes?

Anodes in electric water heaters aren't electrified.

They’re bolted to the metal case, which is an electrical connection. Didn’t say they need to be electrified.

I would say it's connected to the cap which is screwed to the rad. Now if the rad is isolated by rubber mounts the rad is the only thing protected.

What is your radiator made of? If it's aluminum as well along with the block and heads, there shouldn't be any galvanic issues.

Why is the anode coated with, or made of, yellow plastic?

  16. I use an anode in my radiator petcock position. After 3 years I decided to replace it, picked up some marine anodes on eBay. So I take the "old" one out, it was still 100% all there. I replaced it anyway.
