F. Y. I. 201 also know as a V-8 QC. It is based on the 39-48 Ford car R&P. 6 spline. Good for up to about 300 HP if used with slip in axles. 301 also know as a champ QC. Good for 800HP. It is based on Ford 3/4 ton truck 38-41 R&P. 10 spline. pictured 301 with 38-52 3/4 ton LEFT SIDE steel side bells with 9" ends. 2nd picture. Quite a bit of difference in size. 3rd picture . 201 with 10 bolt car housings and axles. 4th picture. 301 with H852 side plates to use 10 bolt car housings. Ends welded on for wide 5 racing hubs. 5th picture. 301 with aftermarket side bells. Sorry. Computer decided to put 5th picture 1st.

Just to clarify: 201 and 310 designations refer to Halibrand part numbers. Each manufacturer has it's own names for these units. The last picture is a Winters Heavy Duty.

In your picture of the two side by side, what are the bells on the 201? I've seen that 6 rib style on the larger units but not on a V8.
