Attached is a photo of my 1930 Model A Ford Roadster.

It currently has a four inch dropped axle and I'm considering going to a gasser look with the front end raised.

    Comments, please

The only comment I have is, that is a pretty damn nice car. Build it or change it as you see fit.

Your car has a nice stance now. If your car was a coupe I might think about it but a roadster just doesn't look right that way to me.

Paint the full hood, install it, fill the gas tank, check the oil and drive it. Bob

  6. You've already got "stance". My vote is a big NO on the gasser deal. But-your ride........

It's too beautiful to f*** with. You want a gasser, sell this and build a coupe.

If you go gasser style, you will need to go all the way to pull it off. I never saw a roadster like yours as a gasser, but it would definitely need a roll bar, a crazy induction like hilborn with tall stacks or a blower, zoomy headers, wide cheater slicks, and a chute and/or wheely bars out the back. Even with all that, I think it will be kind of odd as it is not recognizable as a gasser like a 40 Willys is.
In my opinion, there are way cooler things you can do to that car.
Personally, I think the whole gasser thing is a bit of a fad (except for real ones), and that look will not add any value to what is already desirable as it is.

Looks fine the way it is but its your car.

  15. It will be more stabile to drive with the lower front. The fenders act like airplane wings.

  16. You need to pick a theme and stick with it. As HRP said you have 2 things going on. Semi street roddy semi drag racer full nothing!!. It looks to be a nice car put some steelies with rings and caps and drive the hell out of it!!

I say no. Change to black steelies instead.

No to many many wana be gassers all ready Thats a sweet car you have . If your boared with the look change wheels and tires. Wide Whites and Steelies will do it .

  20. Model A full fendered coupes look great as a Gasser, one of my favorites. A roadster not so much.
    Nice car.

Very nice roadster. I can understand you wanting to change it up. Sometimes people get tired of style or look, and have a need for something fresh. Rather than going the gasser route, with the time and expense involved, how about something simpler. A 3"-4" windshield cut, and a wheel change (maybe even back to the chrome reverse you have), possibly a multi-carb setup, would give it a more hotrod, rather than streetrod vibe IMO. It's a very nice ride as is, but as a gasser, I dunno, might be a stretch.

If my memory serves me right that car would never have fit the '64 and earlier NHRA rules as a 'Gasser' - it would have been classified as a 'Street Roadster' = /SR

As for my opinion - leave it alone....

Uh.... No. I would change to steel wheels, caps, rings and enjoy it as Hot Rod. If you want a gasser, trade it for one.
