Help Needed. I am mounting a 56 F100 steering box and column in my Tudor project and the 56 truck steering wheel is too large in diameter. Is the spline and guide bearing the same for other year fords? earlier? what years? which are smaller in diameter 15/16"? aftermarket? I appreciate any help, thank you in advance.
I know Grant makes an addapter for that spline. I just put on my roadster project. I will see if I have the # off the box.
the spline is the same for Ford cars of the 50s. This is a 56 F-100 column with a 57 Merc. accessory wheel. The same column with a 53 Hudson wheel so there may be lots of wheels that fit. I did have to remove the turn signal switch housing at the top. It was just spot welded to the mast.
I appreciate the help so far, thank you. The grant adapter part number would be great. The only issue with other wheels of the 50's is that they are all going to be similar in diameter to the 19" truck one I have, right?
hey alleyoop..do you have to use a grant wheel ?or is the adapter for any 3 bolt wheel ?thanks sawbuck
the Grant adapter will work with any 3-bolt wheel..i used one to put a pete & jake's Bell type flat spoke wheel on a `56 f100 column
