I am in the pieces/parts stage. Putting together a lower-budget but not shoddily-fabricated hot rod.

I picked up a 46 ford half-ton pickup axle that is in good shape in complete with drag link, brakes, what have you. I want to use this as part of a suicide front end as a four bar where the lower bars are quarter ellipticals. I would like to retain the stock steering arms in cross steer if I can get it all to fit.

A lot of people recommend the panhard rod with a cross steer. Usually this is with a transverse spring though. Most quarter elliptical front setups I have found pictures of use traditional steering. Is this because cross steer won't fit, or is it just a style thing? Can I do a cross steer four bar quarter elliptical with no panhard rod? Thanks for your time.
