As most know compression is one of the most important things to check on a old engine when your buying it or about to dump a bunch of money is a engine you know little about.. I had a good one borrowed it out and never got it back. If you want quality what would you buy? Gene
I got a snap-on one I’ve had for at least 15 years never an issue with it. I’ve used some of the cheap store brand ones with varying results. Inaccurate readings both high and low. not sure who makes the gauge for snap on but any if the quality name brand ones should work just fine. a buddy has a sunnen (sp?) set he’s had for years that works well.
I have a Mac that I’ve had for 27 years, it works great. I also have an old Craftsman at home that works fine as well. I’m like Vandenplas, I’ve used cheap ones that weren’t worth a tinker’s damn. If I were going to buy a new one, it would be a Mac or SnapOn. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
