Don't do it!! Everybody should build a Model A or '32 coupe with a SBC, three twos, white walls, red wheels and flat black paint, so you can all be "different".

This is what I do. I get myself locked into pointless debates. At this point I don't even know why. You're right. It's stupid. You win.

There are no winners or losers. Just debating and bouncing ideas around. No one can say who's right, especially when, in the end, it's up to the OP to chose what he wants.

I can't remember who makes them, but Xenon lights are not only small, but blinding bright. They could be fit into a small housings and two next to each other would only take up the space one regular light does. They are a little higher priced, but would work great.

It will definately put you in the "show rod" category, better do the rest of the car to match, wild paint, lots of chrome, and maybe even upholstered wheel wells

I don't care for the look, unless it's canted quads on a full custom, but I don't care for the very large vintage round ones either. You might look at what Headwinds offers for smaller ones.

Yes, they were, in fact, there were cast aluminum stands available for just that purpose. But the Neo-traditionalists HATE that kinda stuff. Remember the formula. Flat black highboy, red wheels, beanie caps, trim rings, WWW's, non-functional moon tank...

  7. If we have to explain it you don't get it.really? 4 lights? Regular lights are big? Cowl lights? Hell..I want Bigger lights

This 29 sedan belongs to a member of the road pilots in Helsinki Finland. Not my style but cool nonetheless.

according to Bob, they were off an old snowmobile.

  13. So how does " form ever follows function" fit with all this ?

  14. Now George, I'd like to call your attention to your extremely well worded and eloquent post from the "do looks matter " thread.

Would it be the neo traditionalists that don't necessarily like it or those who truly appreciate mechanical beauty ?

There are a few I think looks good and I can't really say why,but it is hit and miss for most part.

  17. Just boils down to what you like,,personally I like big headlights,,one on each side,,I also like dropped headlight bars.

If the OP wants to use 4 headlights on his car it's a free country so I say go for it if you like it.

I know if he does and post photos and ask what we think I will already have my answer prepared and tell him it's fugly! :D HRP

There are endless possibilities along the lines of "a contemporary answer to the Woodlite that never was".

Quad lights were not that popular even back in the 60's ( I was there), I think Barris started it but it never lasted . " Im smellin what some of you guys stepped in" !

  23. I saw this done once on a show car in a magazine in the sixties. The image haunts me to this day.

Dual headlights as used from 1958 by Detroit, were 5.5" diameter vs. 7" dia single seal beams. You can buy spotlights, painted or chrome, and put the headlight seal beams in them. These would be legal headlights, spotlights might not be.

If it is a show car this won't matter but for a street driven car you should be legal.

By the way, the dual headlights were no better than single seal beams.

I'm not going to comment on whether it is the right thing to do or not.

I wanted to use these taillight bezels, build a rear housing for them to conceal and hold the lamps in. Stand them up and have stacked headlights mounted off the grill shell, doubt I ever will though.

Some years ago I had a 1993 Mazda Miata. I bought a set of after market quad headlights for it. They were about 3.5" size and the two of them replaced the single 7" bulb. Plus, the kit had a feature that only raised up one-have the height of the regular bulbs. I believe they were a tractor bulb. Check out the Miata vendors, maybe he is still out there. You might be able to fit them into a single round housing for a neat look. Another suggestion: I also added a set of Piaa Projector driving lights. These lights are very small, but put out a lot of light in a good pattern. You could put four of these light just about anywhere.
