Has anybody ever thought of building something like this....? more pics and info .... Helicron 1932 Short clip ..... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t-7u86bT9fU 75mph ... Hope it comes with a parachute for stopping. The rear axle steering is cool. Would love to see footage of it driving through snow from a little distance.

saw a simlar thing at Goodwood a couple of years ago, also built by a French looney,it was a lot bigger and had 4 seats doors and a proper roof,
I guess, the line's gotta be drawn somewhere, huh? I would love to rebuilt an old airplane one day. If that doesn't work out, I could always make a prop car like that. Maybe a hybrid with another engine and propeller at the rear. Not really serious - But I love creative unique stuff from that time - very inspiring to me. Only 'prop'lem is registering it with the DMV...
Check out this guy stopping a ceiling fan with his tongue.... http://youtube.com/watch?v=YMljum9CuWA He should try that with this one...
If you are giong to build a prop cqr you must use a HAMB motor...Here we have a Ford Aero engine based on a Model A ,crank rod and pistons. The Globe-Dayton was built in Dayton, Ohio in 1930. Designed around the Ford Model A automobile engine for easy parts availability and service, the 50 hp 173 lb. air-cooled engine used Model A crankshaft, rods and pistons, and 1928 Nash rocker arms. It could use a Ford A carb or special aero carburetor. It is also know as the Dayton Aero Four-In-Line. This is the only known example. (SMOF). And a Model A block version in this inverted version.
You would only do that if you couldn't drive your wheels (as in an airplane or swamp boat). As far as I know, it's much more efficient to drive wheels than to flap at the wind.
I just got this vision of some poor dude standing there with his arm out, hitching a ride, and along comes that thing........... Oops! Cheers, Glen.
If I did think about it my brain must have said no F...ing way. Just how dangerous of an idea is that anyway. Rotating blades on the front end of a car ??? Don't most accidents involve front end colisions? Call me crazy but even a 10 year old would come to the same conclusion, chuck
