Press fit square nut tech

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by T Hudson, Feb 16, 2011.

  1. The square nuts for the inner fender sometimes twist out. This can make for a struggle to find something to fit. Well, since I didn't toss out the hacked up innners that were here I had some good ones.

Press them out with a large deep socket, bolt and c clamp.

Take a file dress the edges of the nut and the hole of the inner fender, test fit then sand the crud from around the opening. Hold it in place with bolt and a larger nut.

Weld it in, now 5 more to go.

    Hope it helps somebody else.

    Nice easy right up. Thanks!

Here is another option for when the back side is hidden from view and not easily reached.

If the link is dead and you want to goggle it. They are easily install with a simple hand tool. Once you use them you'll wonder what you did with out them.

Here is a hand set tool like I use. This will also work with the steal type rivnuts.
