The bead roller die. Ha. It has some 7/8,3/4 and 5/8 washers. All I did was reamed the smaller washers out to the larger diameter to fit the shaft. Then I jerryrigged it up onto the drillpress. Ground to perfection with angle grinder while spinning in the drillpress. Not exactly OSHA approved, but functional

My shop is pretty low budget. An 8’ brake I paid a hundred bucks for, a throatless shear, a HF bead roller, a HF English wheel, a stump, hammers, a grinder, welders, and the drill press. I have less than a grand into all of it minus the welders.

  3. Thanks for the info sounds a lot like my shop check out my build thread if you have some time. I think we build about the same way. I will be making some bead roller dies! Hobo Jim

  7. But you have Joe's sweet shaping hammer. I have a few nice hammers and if you have or ever do meet Joe he is a really good guy. Nice work by the way.

Could you shed a bit more light on your chassis rail mods? They look perfect to me for a t I'm collecting parts for. Johnny

If you want a english wheel why dont you just build one?
To make the lower curved wheels you could use same metod as making your die for your beadroller.
I builded myself a small one just to test a few years ago.

The frame is 22 1/4” out of the middle, 1” v notch marked 3-4”ahead of the rear body mount hole in the kick up. Rear horns pulled in with relief cut at front of turtle deck, rails laid out to 27 1/4” at the firewall which puts about 20 1/2” between them at the front crossmember.

Leadfootloon, perhaps you recall meeting earlier this year. If not me you may recall my son. And yep, Joes a pretty nice fella 28E3CBBD-4F04-4D27-A54E-2C0D051D5641.jpeg E61B9DC3-3442-45AD-8470-138E74BF0C49.jpeg

  13. Yep sure do. We were looking talking about Shane's model A. Didn't recognize the new project. And I'm no good with names. Well looks like your well on your way. I'm still trying to get all my stuff set up. Have my stumps mostly done a English wheel and sher still in the crate. 4 kids and 2 still in dippes really keeps a guy running. But small steps have been made over the year. And I alway get more done in winter. I will keep checking in, love shaping it's changed my world.

You are doing an awesome job and your information helps with my T build. Will you please draw us a picture of what you did to make the kickup behind the body?

I never cease to be amazed at some of the stuff that I see on here. I am still trying to figure out how I am going to make a steel rear top rail reinforcement for my glass "T" touring body, and here it looks like the first, simplest thing you made. I think I see my problem; I tried using the same square tubing I used to reinforce the rest of the body. I see now that I should have used round. Unless you have a problem, I'm stealing your method.

108E6D9A-333B-431D-AFD4-59C92E93C24F.jpeg Steal away. 3/4 x .065wall is what I used. It can be bent with a conduit bender or over your knee. And the rear kick up in the frame is just a V notch 1" on the top rail measured from 3-4" in front of the rear body hole on the kick up of the 32 rails.

Cowl top showed up. Guess I need to move the door posts. Must be a subtle difference from original to fiberglass. 190BAEDE-DFBA-4331-B170-97E35AD75EB3.jpeg A344AB40-04CB-479E-8A79-5CCB0283EC14.jpeg

So after moving the door posts, a little head scratching, rolling a few beads, and some welding, here is where today ended 544522EB-5E4D-4F98-A68C-B9DA7A33DA0F.jpeg 173C16D8-0FF0-436D-AF28-F9EAD9ED2EB3.jpeg E9FD2725-9B39-45C0-9E01-29B616A232E5.jpeg

Your metal working is very interesting to me, it seems you are able to do a lot with very little. Unfortunately I don't have the space for a hot rod project but I was thinking maybe I could set up a small metal working shop in the basement to develop my metal working skills to prepare for the day I have a shop, if I ever do. You build is inspiring.

Man, it looks like you really have something there! Cool idea, using a fiberglass body as a template.

Thanks for all of the kind words. Its been a long week at work and HS wrestling meets start tomorrow. I haven't gotten much done this week as I just haven't had the time in the shop. Hopefully an update soon.

Too much running around chasing parts fixing daily drivers and farm trucks to give much time in the shop. Got to make another parts run tomorrow but I have the next couple of days off of work. This part is turning out to be harder than I thought it would be.

But on the parts run note, when was the last time you bought any 6D7284E4-6E32-4539-B377-2F2603AEFC88.jpeg 32 Ford parts that have never been installed? Still has the tag from the Rouge on it.
