California is a place of many varied landscapes. Just east of the central coastal area are rolling hills covered in centuries old oaks. Venerable established ranches spread over vast tracts of land. One of these ranches was the scene of the first RPM Nationals. As soon as you entered the property you knew you were in for something special. Crossing over an ancient bridge, past cows that were completely uninterested in the rumbling hot rods that past them, up over a rise and you were at Rancho Santa Margarita. An awesome gathering of bangers and flatheads came together to do battle on the ranches private runway. There was a swap meet and car show included but the focus, of course, was on the racing. The cars were fast and the racing surprisingly hard. You should have been there.
Thanks for the great photos, especially this one. That's my nephew's Nitro T (youngrodder1929) in the right lane, paired up with the "Bean Bandit".
I wasn't lucky enough to be there but I was lucky enough to have worked on the number 69 car in the lead photo of post #3 above. What a cool event, I will deffinately try to make it if they do it again.
This was a really fun day. It was a low key get together of really cool cars and nice people, with the drag racing being the excuse to be there. I hope the organizers can keep it going and not lose the flavor. Here's some cars that maybe you haven't seen in the other posts.
