Projects Possible 23 and 27 roadster buys

I have a neighbor getting up there in age. He’s got some real cool iron from over the years. Today I asked him about a couple bodies he’s got, frames, axles and the like. I’ve got 8BA’s to put into them should I pick up these two projects.

My questions and concerns are,
-what trans to run behind an 8BA to make a cruiser
-I’m more of a custom guy, anyone know of many customized 23/27 roadsters out there?

Also a push in to buying these things might be necessary.

I like the Ford 3 speeds from the mid-60's and up, as they are full synchro. For a bell housing, you can use a 49-51 passenger car (shown) or 52-53, the cast version. If the trans has a tag with HEF or RAN, the Jeep T-150 top can be used. Others will require a side mounted shifter.
