Possible 1/8 mile drag strip in CT

Damn! I wish them good luck. I remember when we lost Connecticut Dragway, the year I got my license.

 

I am 5 miles from the Windham line. i have never heard of this till now.

I did not see an exact location listed?

 

That would be great but 1st I've heard about it

 

I've been hearing about this for some time now, As much as I wish them luck, It'll never happen in this F'ed up state. The powers that be wont allow it. I live in Windham County and haven't heard anything about it coming here.

 

I can see a lot of "haruphing" and "NOT IN MY BACKYARD!" I mean, really, there are kids and schools and such in the area; the schools will be in constant lockdown because of all of these stranger bringing these dangerous cars into town, etc, etc.

Seriously, I like the idea, I just think the general mentality in Connecticut is a big NO.

I wonder why Thompson did not put in an 1/8th mile strip...They have the property and it is already a race facility.

 

Very interesting. I read in our local paper the other day, about a proposal for a new drag strip in North Pole, Alaska; that's about 12 miles southeast of Fairbanks. It would be adjacent to North Pole Speedway, a dirt track for stock cars. The proposal is being brought by The Racing Lions, a drag racing club, and has already been heard by the Fairbanks North Star Borough Planning Commission in a three hour session. They could also drag race snow machines in the winter months. I hope both strips become a reality. Butch/56sedandelivery.
