    Hey Pontiac guys...

I've spent a few days searching stuff on here as I've just picked up a 370 motor for my '50 project.

I bought a 370 block and 347 complete off of a guy. The 347 has a cracked block, but the crank, rods, and all the exteriors are good. My thoughts were to get the heads redone, use the crank and rods as they are the same stroke, and build the 370. I also got the '58 Jetaway trans off of him as well.

I've read that you can bore the 370 .055 and use 400 pistons. Is this a pretty common practice? Anything I need to look for or ask the machine shop guy? Any particular choice of piston? If I go with stock 370 pistons, where's the best place to source them, Egge?

The pistons would be about .090 in the hole 3.5625 stroke for 370, 3.75 for 400

If you are going to spend money find a 455, I suggest

400 pistons won't work even with that bore, the pin height will be differant because of the stroke differance. Plus the earlier heads have a differant valve angle than any 400 head. Keep it simple and bore the 370 and use a standard size piston.
