I'm stumped on what kind of oil and tranny fluid to use in my 53 Poncho. I've still got the 268 and hydramatic in it. Any help would be great. Thanks Scotty

I run straight 30 weight in my 268 Straight eight and dex/merc, dexron 3 in the transmission.

Original owners manual calls for 20W motor oil and GM "Hydra-matic Drive Transmission Fluid" or Type A transmission fluid with markings AQ-ATF

If the engine is fairly clean inside, try Castrol 20/50.

My old 1952 Motor Manual say's to use "Only G.M. Hydromatic Fluid" or "Automatic Transmission Fluid (Type A) from containers bearing the Armour Institute Qualification number "AQ-ATF" shoud be used in the Hydromatic.

    Hope this helps?
