'65 283, 2 barrel carb with a Delco single point. What's everyone using on theirs? Is Pertronix the best game in town, or are the offerings from Crane Cams and Accel just as good? I'd just like to know everyone's experiences and opinions! Thanks!
I have had a Pertronix conversion in my Pontiac for over 22 years. If installed properly (follow the directions) they work very well. Don't follow the directions and you have burned a $100 up! They don't like solid core wires either. KK
I just replaced my plug wires with stock style replacements. Will I be alright or do I have to buy new? Thanks!
As long as they are not a solid core, you will be fine. Your new wires should say something like radio suppression or resistor on them. KK
I've used the Crane XR-i Fireball points conversion set-up in a SBC. Seems to work well. Better start-up and runs smoother. They suggest using their "compatible" coil which I did .
I run a Petronix converted cut down small block Chevy dizzy on my flatheadv8 powered 32 cabriolet and have nothing but praise for their(Petronix) product.Motor fires very quickly and performance is outstanding; also use their hi po coil.Good stuff,no problems!
