Many photos posted on threads aren’t showing,... what shows is a billboard “ please update your account in order to allow third party posting”????
How is this update done please?? Thank u

It's likely Photobucket attempting to fleece folks out of more money to release their photos.

The “please update your account in order to allow third party posting” message has nothing to do with the Jalopy Journal. It appears only where there were images linked to the site from someones previously free Photobucket image hosting account.

Not surprisingly, the owners of Photobucket decided they wanted to make some money from providing this service. Even though they cluttered their site with annoying paid pop-up ads they apparently were unable to make this business model profitable. And the site has become kind of clunky and hard to navigate as a result.

Sadly, Photobucket seems to have made this change of policy rather abruptly. And greedily as well, as they now require a $399 annual fee to allow your stored images to be linked to sites like the Jalopy Journal and other sites elsewhere on the web.

If you're only wanting to display your images here on the forums your best bet is probably to upload them directly to the Jalopy Journal/HAMB servers. Ryan will store and host your pictures for free! (What a guy!). If you want to post the same pictures elsewhere on the web as well, you'll need to find another image hosting site. Maybe someplace like Flikr, or your internet service provider (ISP) may offer free or reasonably priced image storage and hosting.

 

A lot of threads here on the H.A.M.B. have been ruined by the evil Photobucket.
