I bought a "utility trailer" frame that I spotted on Craig's List here in Rochester, NY. I think the frame is the center of a Model T frame and the wishbone is also Model T. What I really bought it for was the front axle. I know it is Ford and has cross steering so it has to be '35 or later, but also has mechanical brakes and not wide five wheels so I am thinking '36 - '38 Ford? I also included pictured of the wheel if that helps. Any help is appreciated. Thanks. Josh
Okay, I didn't know what years the wide five were available. I thought it was '35 only, but if it's as you say then the axle would be a '35. Thanks for the info. Anyone else know for sure? Josh
Looks like Model A from the round thingie on the top of the backing plate and shape of the axle. 40-48 wheels. Pat.
The axle is a 1933-36, in 1937 and on the "Perch pin/wishbone locator pin holes" were farther apart,.... assumeing these are the original spindles and brakes, as said before it has 5 on 5.5 so it would have to be a 33 -35,.... but the right spindle has a location for cross steering,... can't be 33 or 34,.... So Dale Fairfax is dead on 1935 only ! ( the spindles can only be 1935 or 1936, there is no thrust bearing for axle load, the bearing showed up in 1937 and went to 1948 ) #1, 1928-31 A #2, 1932 only #3, 1933-1936,.... (now look at the pirch pin location) #4 & 5, 1937-1940 #6, 1941-1947 #7, 1948 only Hope this helps.
Thanks a bunch guys. Eventually this axle will find its way out front of my Model A RPU, but right now it might make the trip down to the Jalopy Showdown this year in tow with a flat bed/pup tent on it so I have a high and dry place to sleep. Josh
