Yes, it'll get a bunch of art on it. I have some ideas, but I wont know what it'll look like till it's done.

My guess is that like many of the mid 60s race cars, it won't really be beautiful.

Are you going to fix the rear wheelwells? They way they are cut look funny, like it was done in a hurry, but maybe that is the look you are going for?

Man!, Nassau Blue. Good thing your doing your own painting. What a fight my car turned out to be over "Nassau Blue". I knew what I wanted and what it looked like. The painter said, "oh ya, I painted alot of Tri-Fives, I know that color". Sure he did and the paint store as well.

Great build, I like the approach. Nassau blue would definately be cool, or white, light gold. Even the suburban color to have a matching tow vehicle.

That's one thing I was thinking....the darker colors don't work so well with lettering

Thanks for the color ideas....I sprayed a test panel of the original Nassau Blue, it's a medium blue metallic color. I'm not happy with how it turned out, I don't know how to keep from getting stripes. I'm leaning towards Roman Red today. But I still have a bunch of work to do before deciding.

I finally made the fender lower rear mounts, and the radiator support. Now I'm doing body work on the fenders. It's getting there. Hope to have it all in primer some time this weekend, although I probably won't get going on the hood for a while yet.

What about the stock surf green color? It's a pretty common, boring color, but with some lettering over it, it would give the impression it was pulled right off a dealers lot to race

There used to be an O/T 68 Roadrunner running around here that was black and white. From the front, it was white with a white top, from the back it was black with a white top, from the sides, it was white along the edge on the top of the fender up all the way to the rear top pillar, with black behind the top pillar and from the fender edge down and up across the trunk, with a white tail light panel. I always like the scheme, it would work with any dark/light color combo. Blue/white, red/white, any two contrasting colors would work. You could do the lettering in the top color to tie it in.

My 55 is red from the front, and white from the back.

I'm pretty sure I'm going to have only one color on the Chevy II, though.

body in primer, sanding has commenced.

Lookin' good, can't believe how fast this build is moving along!

Saying you were leaning twards a light color, and wasn't that wild about the Nassau blue test panel...or white...

    I'll suggest a pale gold or even beige, w/red tinted windows...bam! :D

I hate to see you give up the Nassau Blue; I encourage you to practice on the test panel a little more. I learned to spray from my Dad, who sprayed production at Studebaker. They used synthetic enamel and dad always said if you can spray that, you can spray anything. Here are some tried and true techniques that may help:
1 Mix and reduce according to manufactures instructions ( a viscosity cup is good until you get used to it)
2 Overlap each pass 40-50% and on verticle surfaces start at the bottom and stack each pass on the last
3 Watch the gloss develop as you spray each pass. Syn enamel is 1 to 2 in. behind the gun. Acrlylic laquer is about 12 in behind the gun. single stage urethane is about 6 in behind the gun.
4 keep the gun distance from the panel uniform.
This stuff varies a little from painter to painter; I tend to move the gun faster and set the gun to spray heavier with more thinner. You will find your own "rythum" as you practice.
If you want to cut and rub out a metallic, shoot a couple of coats of clear over the paint and rub that out.

Actually, panel fitment is getting some attention, but not drastic measures to fix it.

Hey, it's a race car, not a show piece. It's built to look good while going FAST!:D
