Doing a little maintenance. The plugs look ok, they've been in there a long time, many thousands of miles. Back in they go.

Stepping back a few posts, the missus is just going through Wickenburg, on her way to Marana. While I sit in snow :( Still dig this car, and it's epic road trip.

Did the World of Wheels circuit one winter with a funny car back in the 70's. Drive the hauler to an event, set up and sell t shirts for 4 or 5 days and pack up and go to the next one. Met a lot of nice people, was never so bored in my life by the time winter got over. Ruined car shows for me.

Yup, I don't plan to do this more than once. But life is full of new things to try...

    Merry Christmas Jim.
I got a Chevy II, unfortunately it is 25 times smaller than your one, but I will base it on your car. It already had a straight axle and 427.
Just need to extend the roll cage forward, swap the stacks for a super charger, lose the front bumber and alter the wheelbase.
I probably should be putting time into my real car but this will be a fun model to build with my kids over the holidays. Cheers Aaron.

I've wanted to get back into building model cars, but never seemed able to do it. I bought a bunch of 55 Chevy kits to build like my 55, but over the 20 years I had the car, I never built one.

Hope to see pics of your completed model!

It was good to re read your thread to sort colours, you have achieved so much with this car.
    Cheers Aaron.

I got done with Drag Week 2019 with Plan II. The car worked almost flawlessly, it was a lot of fun. But that long tow back home from Virginia...man, I wanted to be driving. So maybe I'll get it ready to drive up to George Ray's next week for Brian's race. Does that sound like a dumb idea, or what?

Anyways, here's the updated spreadsheet with the latest times added

I need to fix the fender that cracked loose on the tow home, and also several other things to get ready for the trip. I was pondering the blower, it's not been worked on since Steve did his thing to it when it locked up in 2015, and I'm a bit nervous about putting a lot of miles on it. But also I'd like to see how it runs without the blower, just for a road trip, so I was contemplating installing a single 4bbl intake and one carb, and see how it drives. It should be cooler, get better mileage, and no wear on the pulleys and blower ( the pulleys are already showing substantial wear after 22,241 miles). Also, I want to get a groove cut in the blower intake, for an O ring. Of course I'd bring it all with me to install back on the car in Arkansas.

  17. I say go for it Jim. That car belongs at that race.

  18. There is just no escape, more parts equals more maintenance.
Are you going to run a Holly or a Quadrajet. I like the Holly more for making changes, but I really like the 800 cmf Qjet for mileage.

I would just use one of the 750 AFBs that's on the blower. It should work fine on a dual plane intake on a rectangular port 427 with a medium size cam, with 8.5:1 compression.

  21. Go Jim go, to me that sounds like an great plan. George Rays rocks.

  23. It was so obvious I couldn't see it for looking. Of course you would use one of the two carbs you have presently bolted on the car.
It will be interesting to learn whether or not it is more drivable on the highway.

That's a good question, it's really driveable now!

I just run the stock jets that AFBs came with, no matter where I'm driving. And I was racing at low elevation tracks last week, it seemed to work fine.

yeah, it's been neglected a bit lately, but still a lot of fun.

Back to the fender....sometimes, I just have to laugh at myself.
