Technical Pin hole in oil pan....

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by banditomerc, Nov 24, 2018.

  1. I like to take the pan off, braze the hole, clean the screen and install the pan with a shiny new gasket.

mostly read here, not write. but anyways. I wanted a single plane intake for my 350 buick. I got a 340 mopar s/p intake and cut it up and with some additional metal made a s/p for my buick 350. it is held together with j-b weld. that was 10 yrs ago. intake is still good and good for 7500 rpm.
    thanks j-b weld. lol

Got back on this today, and as Squirrel suggested, I hit it with a torch, a bit of rod and flux and it sealed right up. Seems to lay down much flatter and spread out more than with the tig and silicon bronze, maybe due to the wider area the torch heats. Anyway, good to go. Thanks for the replies.

That makes sense, a TIG torch makes very high heat in a very small place. Brazing or soldering require uniform mild heat....
