Its been raining all week, supposed to start to clear tomorrow, Saturday looks good. Hopefully it wont keep people away. Will take HAMB friendly pics.

Well it rained the whole week before the Rock and Rumble, I didn't go to the track for Friday nights events because it was cold and wet. The skies cleared Saturday morning so a bunch of us met at our buddy Neil's house for the short trip to the track. We didn't know if the wet weather was going to cause a small turnout but off we went.

It was a good over 500 cars Should up. There was drag racing all day. Midget racing , dwarf car racing. Go Karts, 1/4 midgets, swap meet and bands all day and night. it was a fun day. Sorry I'm not a picture taker not because I don't want to I don't have a camera.

 

It may be late but I have pics of it all.

We got to the track and registration was up to 300 cars I think the total was close to 400 by the end of the day.
Both sides of the infield filled so they started putting cars on the track. After we got settled in I went to checkout the swap meet area. Turn out was not huge, I think the weather during the week kept some from loading up their stuff and hauling it there. Saw Pinstriper40 at his booth and congratulated him on his new flathead hoard from his longtime mentor. There was still some cool stuff to be had like this Twin Mill go-cart.

 

Well like I said there was something for everyone including a pinup contest, rockabilly bands. So what do you do when a pretty pinup girl wants to take a picture with my car? I said how about on the car? Well since the Corvette was shot in color matched sealer I said why the hell not. Pretty pinup scratches your sealer ruff it up and spray a touch up. It was not her idea to climb up on the car, she was very hesitant and asked if I was sure it was ok about 3 times. So a slight break from cars to pinups and the bands.

 

They had two stages for the bands, one above the staging lanes at the drag strip and one in the infield.

 

More pics of the hot rods. Chryslerfan55 there is a beautiful blue Plymouth you will love, I just finished the speedometer before he got it on the road.

 

Now to the racing. It was pretty cool pay your $20 car show entry fee and run the 1/8 mile. I wish I could have taken more drag race pic's but my cell phone battery died. I ran the Corvette and got my ass kicked, still running the stock 265 single WCFB and powerglide. I did pull off one win against a 71 442 but only because he was looking at the pinup flag girls ample boobs instead of the flags so I got him off the line big time. Hey a win is a win right. There is a shot for squirrel of two Chevy II's at the line. There was also 1/4 midget,dwarf and legend cars racing the circle track in the infield and go-carts for the kids.

 

This was the first year for this show, if they can pull it off again next year I highly recommend you guys try to put it on your list. There were more great cars, too many cars not enough cell phone battery life. I know the VW isn't HAMB friendly but you gotta love a small block twin turbo crammed in a bug if your a hot rod guy. Thanks for taking the time to view the thread. Sorry for the double shots of the 55 Chevy handy man wagon and the maroon truck I'm to tired to try to figure out how to delete them tonight.

Hmm... somehow didn't hear about this event until Saturday night when I saw pics showing up on facebook. Looks like it would have been good to go to.

That flathead intake/heads... They've been at every swap I've been to since moving to Colorado 10 years ago. Makes ya wonder if he actually wants to sell them or just get people to talk to him.

 

Yup I have seen them at Tri-state, Bandimere , Street Rod Nats in Pueblo and I think at the Abby in Canon City.
