Technical Picked up a 283. Has an intake I didn’t recognize

    I have the same issue with my merc (if I ever start on it)
    FE, yblock, another 283pp I have or a 331 Chrysler.
    It sucks sometimes having options.

    I used the 151 cam in a 62 Chevy ll I built in 64 with a 283. It was fine with an automatic. By today’s standards it’s not a big cam. Also had a 30-30 in a 283 with a 4-speed and it was ok too, 3300 pound car with 3.55’s.

    That’s a great buy for $200. The insides just look like they need cleaned up and most everything will be used again.
     
  4. Number 1 cyl has some scratches.
    That’s the worst so far. The hardened lithium grease doesn’t want to give it up. Probably gonna have to wash it all down with mineral spirits.
    I think I’ll save the L79 cam for something else. The 929 cam is probably a better fit for what I need
