One of the funniest things I ever saw qs in the movie "Blaze" when his girlfriend was commenting on the state of his mental health as he was trying to start the lawnmower in the background. She says "he is the sanest man I know" just as he shoots the mower with a 12 guage. Did what many of us have thought of, I am sure. RIP Butch Cassidy
He was a good man. An actor when that actually meant something, A racecar driver, and most importantly a philanthropist who actually helped people with his money.
A Sad day...but happy memories; I'll never forget the time spent with him at the track...absolutely a true gentleman. We will all miiss you Paul...Godspeed!!!!
I love it that Paul Newman knew what "Hustlin" was long before the hip-hop idiots were born. Plus, a standing ovation to him and his wife Joanna for one of the most enduring marriages in Hollywoodland. Now that deserves an Oscar.
RIP Mr. Newman, you will always be immortalized as Reg Dunlop, Doc Hudson, Cool Hand Luke.... The list goes on... Flatman
Truely great human being, I was driving past a church when I heard the news on the radio. The world is a better place because of his work. RIP
Sad to see someone we've watched over the years go. RIP Paul. I don't mean to hijack the thread, bu on another note - these posts/comments are making me feel a bit odd... my last name is Newman (no relation) and I hear "Mr. Newman" about 300 times a day.
alot of these modern day 'actors' could learn from this class act. read that the gave a quarter BILLION dollars to charities in his great lifetime. rip luke.
Paul credits that long marriage to NOT LIVING IN HOLLYWOOD, that is why they stayed in the NE. God bless him.
Great actor, seemed like a really great guy. He had a long and I'd say good life (83). Looked like he had alot of fun and helped alot of people along the way. Chalk up another one to cancer, damn. RIP Link to a list of Paul Newman's films; http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000056/
As I said on another site, farewell to a man who led a tremendous life. I was priviliged to meet him when he participated in the old "FastMasters" series at IRP, and he was just happy to be there and driving one of those hot Jaguars. PLN, you will be missed by many...
Sorry to hear that, my first movie I saw him in was "HUD" He was in some good movies plus he was a good guy. RIP
The Sting Cars Cool Hand Luke Slapshot Butch Cassidy & the Sundance Kid The Hustler Road to Perdition The Verdict Exodus Cat on a Hot Tin Roof Hombre Winning That's one hell of a resume...
That's sad. I don't get emotional about celebrities that die but this is an exception. Cool Hand Luke, Hombre, The Hustler and The Sting are some of my all time favorite movies. And to top that off he was a cool guy in real life. The coolest actor that ever lived.
RIP, I'll be watching Slap Shot tonight for sure... and people that can't spell... wine Reggie Dunlop: She underlines the fuck scenes for ya? Jesus, if she underlines the fuck scenes for ya, she must worship the ground you walk on Reggie Dunlop: You know, your son looks like a fag to me. Anita McCambridge: I beg your pardon? Reggie Dunlop: You better get re-married again, or he's gonna have someone's cock in his mouth before you can say Jack Robinson. Anita McCambridge: How dare you! How dare you! Some racy shit for '77
