Thanks for starting this thread Brent! You have put a lot of work into highlighting a significant detail that is not often brought up. I see now how often it has been used on significantly historic Hot Rods.

    Thank you.

I truly love this style. I started seeking out photos when I realized there weren't any threads on the topic. One thing that surprises me, and you can kind of see it in a few pics in this thread, is there are cars that were striped but the old photos weren't clear enough to notice. So, if you weren't reading all the mags, paying attention to different publications, or just flipping pages casually without studying the pic, you might never know.

Even the chopped tow pickup was panel-striped.

Anyone know where to find these images without the watermarks? @Cut55 Do you have any? I think I nabbed some of these from you.

I wish I knew more about this car. The striping is very elegant... and that double headlight bar!

  23. The simplicity is what blows my mind on this! I've racked my brain trying to come up with a paint scheme for my car, to the point of giving up! Until i started reading this thread! Refreshing man! Thank ya for the inspiration! :D

Some work with a less-is-more approach but that one is pretty dang stark. I think a person with a good eye for the lines could do pretty much any car from that era. There was a 60s Vette that I swear I had seen a pic of but I cannot find it...

The T-Bucket craze was real. Jeesh, for every panel-striped bucket posted in this thread there were a dozen others.

Erv Campbell's T in The Munsters

This car was posted, in color, earlier. It was a righteous. Here it is, again.

All the soul has been plucked out of it, now. Gone are the screaming red paint and upholstered floor. It's mellow and carpeted. Take a look at the glorious before and the bland after -> HERE.
