painting engines in lacquer ?

    got some expensive spraycans made up to match my lincoln engine parts
    they made them in lacquer !
    are these going to be ok for my rebuild ?
    engine detailers help please !!!!!!!

    My first and only lacquer paint job on an engine was in the late seventies. Fresh new clean Buick engine. The paint peeled off in about a week of engine use. Starting at heat areas.:eek:

    My experience too. Don't think I'd use lacquer.

    I tried this once years ago, and had the same success as the above posters.

    PS: It will stay on the valve covers and oil pan but nothing else.

    Lacquer is made to sell.......NOT USE
     
  8. use a good enamel...or even better..ceramic paint....have used ppg in past..held up for yrs!...
