My son's girlfrend has an OT Mustang that is black with pink stripes( she loves pink). My son has had to drive it on a few occasions and has received some funny looks when doing so. He laughs it off, because he is a man. I remember a local dirt track racer whose wife gifted him a flourescent pink (hey this was the 80's, LOL) steering wheel for his race car. He did not react too well and I thnk he was celibate for several months.
Color doesn't make you gay. Being gay makes you gay. I used to drive an old boogie van that I painted baby blue with pink pearl stripes. Drove that for years and only once did the "gay" subject come up. I stopped at a park and a guy came up talking to me about my van, the custom paint, the interior, if it had a bed in the back, if I wanted to go in the back with him...
Three years ago, my dad landed in the hospital, while he was there, he lost the keys to his Rabbit. We towed it to my house, its been in my back-yard since. Believe me, I am well past SUGGESTING that he get a locksmith over here and cut a key for the goddam thing...
Some of my cars were odd colors but that didn't keep me from loving and living it. I never had problem with pink or purple. Colors make me money and my choice of personal colors have had people wondering that is until I laid down the brush. "YBNRML"
The question that comes to my mind is, "What happens when, after weeks of having his creativity stifled, the custom painter gets a free hand/blank sheet/out-of-the-box job coming into the shop?". When Von Dutch was living out in the desert kicking rocks, the local Fire Department brought him their new engine to stripe. He must have been working off a dry spell, because that fire engine got THE WORKS, including flames.
