I saw a pair of these at the swap meet yesterday and I remembered seeing them as a kid on a 75 impala, my dad bought and was trading on at the time, I remember liking them, even then.
Guy wanted 30 bucks for the 2 and I didnt really need them, and there was only 2, so.........
I bet they would look cool on the rite older chevy with the rite tire combo,
anyone ever used these or any other classic looking cap you wouldnt normally think of ?

Not my cuppa tea , but it looks like they make a pretty nice garage clock (pic 2)

  4. I used '71 Impala caps on my gf '60 Studebaker with the Studebaker logo covering the Chevy. I needed flat caps for major offset wheels.

    Ha, my thoughts as well.

  8. Back when I was young, I tried to learn the drums but gave up and was left with a cymbal. One day I put it over the wheel of the C-Cab I had at the time and it looked quite cool.

I didn't take a photo of it so I did this quick photoshop to give the idea…

Cymbals can be quite expensive though, so you'd need to have access to some old cheap ones.

I was at a bookstore today, looking at a corvette book. They look similar to 53-54 vette hubcaps.

I cut the centers out of 1960 Imperial hub caps and made a center threaded rod to hold them onto a modified 70's Caddy wire wheel hub cap threaded receiver. They screwed right on and never come lose.

Found a stack of China chrome air filter covers, they just fit my 14" wheels on my '57 Ford custom.
I bored my front dust covers 1/4", inserted 1/4" carriage bolts (from the inside) and ran tinnerman nuts down outside to hold them in place. The chrome air cleaner lid went over the stud, got a chrome washer and acorn nut to hold it.
Pal Larry gave me a pair of centers for those old 'trick' chrome bullets that covered the lugs, did the 1/4" carriage bolt trick again, pulled the air cleaners right into the outer rim channel, just like the fronts.

Covers pulled down flat with the little acorn nut, guys asked, "Whazzat???"
Didn't leave 'em on there long, some San Jose tennis shoe M.F. had to have 'em, sold him all 4 caps, wheels, tires. (tires were "inch walls", looked pretty sharp)
15" Torq Thrusts looked better, IMHO...

My pal Teddy DeMello had a cobalt blue '53 Stude commander, I dropped the front 4", rear 3". Dayton 2" whitewalls, (8.20 rear, 6.40 front) and I installed 2-blade Corvette knocker nuts on the '53 Stude caps.
Looked 'Bonnevillish' downtown, Stude was slippery!

Just ran across this and had to share here, I guess someone at least at one time also thought these caps had potential like me. Not sure about this particular application or configration but I still like em, I know they would look good on something I just havent quite pinpointed what or what tire combo etc. yet:D

  21. That's funny. I ran those same caps on my 55 about 10 years ago. I thought I was the only one who like them.
I took them off when I lost one on a Bumpy road.

  24. I get that all the time and that's what I think of when they say Pepsi.

I wanted a little color other then black and white and I found a place online that makes any size, any logo under resin.

  25. A few more I've considered...

1oldtimer, do you have the site address for that logo company?

  27. It's cheap and WAY out of this country (Ukraine sounds familiar). It took about a month, used PayPal, they've lasted a year outside and still look great. If you use your own picture make sure it's a high quality pic (mine was small and when it was up sized is kind of pixelated).

  29. My inner 8-year-old thinks it would be cool to put "Ben Hur Chariot" hubcaps on an old Kustom, like the black Merc in Grease.

Took the complete centers out of '49 Sombreros and removed the broken centers from the '57 Cad caps, then painted to match the car...
