I finally got around to getting all the pictures together from our trip to austin. Thanks to our good friend Josh Kurpius and my girlfriend Kacy for the photography. Most of the pics are from the trip and not from the show considering we spent more time traveling then in austin.

What started out as a last minute trip to the Lone Star Round Up turned into the adventure of the year. I wish I could say that we made it to the show but we didnt roll into town until around 6 oclock saturday night. We left chicago thursday morning around 9 oclock.

we started off the trip with four cars.

We didnt make it 30 min from home when Cleens fuel pump took a shit and he needed to remove his shocks.

And off we were back on the road in about 20 minutes. And then we get stopped out side of Springfield Illinois for passing a supreme court judge doing what he said was 85mph.
The officer was really nice and let us off with a warning.

My exhaust came loose about an hour later. Which was a simple fix.

Off again, we drove for about 7 hours and made it to springfield mo. When I threw a rod through my oil pan. That was the end of the trip for my 52 chevy.

Thanks to my good friend Tuck for posting a hamb sos. Brian (studesled) and his father (Flamed58) was there to our rescue in less than an hour with a trailer. Thats why the hamb kicks ass.

We decided to stay in springfield that night so we headed over to Flamed58s house where he let us use his garage and tools. Stitch's car broke a cheep piece of shit speedway hairpin. So I welded that up for him while Cleen did some minor maintance.

So I rode the rest of the trip in Cleens 31 model A and my fat ass was weighing it down. So we stopped in Oklahoma at a junk yard and add a few springs to the rear.

The job was to big of a task for the junk yard gravel lot so a nice local kid named Jonathon lent us his garage.

Jon is 17, and really has a head on his shoulders; Stitch let him drive his model A to go get pizzas for everyone. He will never be the same….

My girlfriend Kacy pinstriped Jon’s truck for him.

After eating some pizza we hit the road and into a heavy thunderstorm with tornado and hail warnings. We drove for about three hours deeper and deeper into the storm. Cleens car took on so much water it quit running…….I have never been so soaked in my life. Thank god for Nick bringing the ponchos……. They didn’t do a damn thing the rain was coming down sideways and blowing the ponchos off.

Nick and Kelly in the pickup dragged us back to a motel a couple miles away in Savannah Ok.

We got up early in the morning hoping Cleens car had dried out. But it didn’t. So we resorted to a hair drier to dry out his distributor.

After an hour or two of drying the dirty sanchez decided it felt like starting.

I think the quote of that weekend was “ You cant stop me”

Off to texas, and we made it to the state line before anything else happened. The joke was that Cleens car just couldn’t handle the excitement because the second we passed the border into texas his oil pressure line blew.
It wasn’t just Cleens car that got covered in oil, but everyone else behind us as well.

Josh couldn’t take the excitement either.

No big deal, the one extra part we had was an oil line. After the fireworks we went straight through to Austin with no other problems and beautiful weather.

We met up with our good friend Johnny Cola

    And Mr. Bobby Bleed

Once we got to Austin we didn’t take very many pictures (we do have a lot of video but I cant figure out how to post them) we just enjoyed ourselves as much as possible.

We hitched a ride home with Johnny Cola because the rest of our group went to Vagas.

I have to say even though we had a rough ride I couldn’t have asked for a better trip. We got to meet so many nice people and stay at some very interesting places. No we didn’t make it to the Round Up but it didn’t matter because Austin is a kick ass town and maybe next year we will leave a few days earlier to try to make the show. We are looking forward to another adventure to Austin that’s for sure.

    Great story, and great pix.

What kinda camera are you using? Are you just using flash for those night shots, or is it lighted some other way?
