Monday, 16th of Janurary 10 till 5 my boss tells me that I am layed off. I was the Senior Designer for a company who makes waterfountains and water effects for splash pads and pad design. Main background is in mechanical piping and design. I have used AutoCAD 11,12,13,14,2000,2000i and 2002. I visited all of the Intellicad line with a few months using Autodsys Intellicad 6.1. I have also used MicroStation 5.0 & 95. If anyone knows of anything, especially in the St. Louis area, please let me know. Travis [email protected]
So are you looking at CAD only jobs, civil engineering firms, landscape architectural firms, or anything specific? I know a few people in each industry but not a lot in any of them. I'll help if I can.
Thanks. I'm more of a mechanical design drafter and a mechanical pipe drafter. Other disiplins usually shy away from people who don't know the specifics of architectual or civil, but I'll take what I can get. I found out a month ago I have another kid on the way.
Between what was already happening, plus two storms, Houston is a really busy design center. Most of it is pipe, but there are some machine design outifts, too. Probably a few jobs in Austin; connected to the high end electronics and medical devices.
We've got a pilot here that does pipeline inspection for Panhandle out of Springfield Illinois. They seem like a really good company. I believe this is the contact info for them. Don said he didn't really have any pull with anyone to help get you on but it's at least something similar that is close to you and may be an option. Here's a link to the company I job shop through, Yoh Company http://www.yohengineering.com/ I did a search on St. Louis jobs, and there are some for document coordinator for a construction site, 17.00 usd an hour, 2 1/2 year contract. Design and cad background should help you. I'm a controls designer in Lancaster, PA, and I know the feeling. Make sure you have a resume up on Monster.com also. Good luck, and I'll keep a lookout for ya!
