Good evening! I'm in the parts gathering stage of a model A build; 28' sport coupe, buick 215, early paxton sn60, 4 speed manual tranny... thats about as far as I've got. I recently came across a "rolling" chassis for sale. I'm thinking this may save me some time, or if nothing else, some money if I can salvage some of the parts and pieces. From what i can gather, its a 6" drop tube axle, ford brakes, ford rear end, cobbled onto a buick chassis? Beyond the obvious "that red is horrible," what are your thoughts?! Thanks.
The welds look shitty , you will need to box the frame and I don't see any cross bracing to keep it from racking or coming out of square. I would check all the bolts to make sure they are strong enough. The one holding the red tube things to the frame , that whole set up looks sketchy.
looks like your going to buying it for the peices on it. The easiest way to save time is to do it right the first time. Just start from scratch and do it right.
It does look pretty sketchy. Is it dirt-cheap? Some usable parts, the engineering/safety look iffy at best.
