Projects on the bandwagon Heyitsnate's 36 5w build

Discussion in 'Traditional Hot Rods' started by heyitsnate, Nov 7, 2011.

  1. Welcome back Nate. I have torn the crap out of the 53 Chevy . I know everyone was saying this aint your style Steve but I'm making it way cooler. Loving watching your metalwork. I learned a ton on the Whippet now its the 53 for a full kustom and then it will be mild stuff on the 36. Hope to see that 36 on the road maybe this year!! I haven't posted much on here lately either . But here's a sneak peak at what I've been working on.[IMG]

Redoing all the floors and subrails, as well as redoing the b-pillar repairs with the body off really paid off. Now i'm looking at WAY less work lining up the body. It pretty much just locks right into the subrails . I also have been doing tailpan and fenderlip repairs.

Smoothing out bumps and welds, as well as test fitting all the work we did before, and everything is lining up as good as i could hope for! Using tec screws to hold the rear together, as well as the a and b pillars, then i can get some of the bracing out and get the doors fitted and the drivers side pillar in its permanent place. In order to get the bracing out and doors hung i needed to make new trunk supports (oops forgot) and pattern the old rusted b-pillar feet to see exactly where they line up against the mount holes then make new ones and anchor the body down.everything lined up really well. It felt good to get the bracing out.

I went to the shop today with the intention of hanging the drivers side door, but i ended up just making an a-pillar patch it needed. I did it last week but i also tacked in that trunk opening patch i made years ago.[IMG]

Ok. So i was going to hang the doors blah blah and hit with a big update, but the holidays and sidework is pushing back a bit. The holidays can be hard, so here is some eye candy to help pull us through. I started the trim and strategize/prep stage of the lz dash,so after the door drama i can dive right in. I can not start shaping and welding until i have a trans tunnel , but i have been a good boy and spent enough tedious to do something fun. [IMG][IMG][IMG]

Can somebody please help me? I need the measurement across the upper door opening corners like this! I promise updates soon after!

  26. If you really, really promise, I can get it for you tomorrow a.m. You're talking about measuring width-wise?

Yup. From the edge thats hooked by the tape measure to the other edge. I think my roof is pinched from an old ratchet strap injury sustained before my custody.
