Technical Olds slant pan linkage help

  1. On the slant pan trans the outer lever on the shifting mechanism is for the throttle does it need to move throughout the throttle range of motion or just be fully actuated at full throttle

Ok so now the question is what is considered the throw on the linkage the total movement or the movement that has resistance because the first 1/2 inch of movement there's no resistance it moves freely then at about the half way point you encounter spring loaded resistance till you reach a hard stop
