Just had a quick question as I am doing the same thing to my 55 clipper. So when the doors are all off and there is just the b Pillar and top where do i properly brace the car? from package tray to floor? roof to floor? Thanks

You can kind of see how the bracing is it's pretty much a rectangle from A piller to C piller then some additional bacing to the floor. As for the glass it is a little harder to deal with then most and cutting glass is a 1 in 5 chance it will brake so be careful and keep an eye out for just in case replacement glass. You can also sink the windshield into the firewall to avoid cutting it. A good Idea too is to pick up some books on chopping tops Tex Smith makes a pretty good one. Good Luck

Whats your opinion on a making it topless with a carson top? im relocating the b pillars even if i dont chop it to create a 2 door. Your work is fuckin awesome bro. Thanks for the pointers and pics. Are you the one that did the one on the packard forum that they are still sour about lol?

I'm working with that guy from the packard forum I was going to try it myself but he told me its a big job and it is so I'm learning as we go he goes by Old Gold on here. Carson tops are alot easier to do so that can be a good way to go I thought about it too but I decided on a chop and it looks badass I'm definately happy with the way its going.

Damn, but that is lookin' good. Keep it comin'! At 6'6", I need the headroom or I would be more seriously considering what you're doing. Can't wait to see it finished!

Nice, really nice. Kind of a pet peave of mine when someone only shows corner views of a chop. It's really impossible to judge a chop without a straight side view. In your case, you got nothin' to hide, looks good from any angle. Great job, and damn do I love that grill!

Heres a photochop of my car I'm really thinking of going with quad headlights what do you guys think?

  21. wow... love the chop. the quad head lights on the other hand... not so sure about. might end up looking a little to much like this car, which in my opinion looks like a crazy insect.

  22. some 56 olds rings might look pretty cool. just a thought.

  23. the chop looks great, but I have to admit, I like the dual quad headlights. 56 Olds headlights would be great too! :)

If you lower and/or move back the seat it might work for you. I'm 5'11" and I moved the seat back a couple inches so the back of the seat lines up with the moved pillar and I got about 3-4 inches of head room.

Go for the quads ! Keep people guessing !

  30. Sometimes you can over-do a custom, IMO, on that car its to smooth and sleek for kanted quads. again. In my honest opinion.
