Most cars I've had usually have had gm disc conversions, are these all representative of mustang II?

4.5" Ford bolt pattern, strut rods in compression (Rear). OEM upper & lower control arms. Looks like MII to me but I'm no expert.

I think he wants to know what brakes are on it.

I'm thinking most aftermarket companies use 11 inch rotors and GM calipers. these are probably stock MII brakes with aftermarket 5 lug rotors.

Before they started converting to 11 inch rotors a lot of MII equipped cars ran the 9 inch rotors with either a 5 on 4-1/2 (Ford) bolt pattern or the 5 on 4-3/4 (Chevy) bolt pattern.

6ftunder if the 9 inch rotors/brakes aren't up to stopping the car the way you would like it to stop it would be real easy to swap to 11 inch rotors with a set of rotors, caliper brackets and calipers.

  10. M11 with stock upper and lower control arms- the calipers look like T-Bird- Fairmont style based on the location of the bleeder screw( they can be a sob to bleed ) a stock 11 inch Granada rotor will fit a stock M11 spindle- same bearings of you want to up the diameter a little-will likely need a different caliper mounting bracket though

Don't you dare raise that car up, it sits bitchn. How wide is your front wheel, maybe you can come in an inch with some backspace or a skinnier tire.

I'd drive it, let it rub a bit and never tell anybody about the MII front.

    Nice car, -Abone.

The way I would do my detective work would be Dragnet style and go find a bearing supply place with a tech who could be bribed into looking up the bearing numbers you have and telling me what the various applications were. Then I would go after the usual suspects and rule out those that didn't look like the rotors you have, until I found the guilty pair. Dum de dum dum.

I'd love to let it stay where it is... But as it is, I'm actually building heat in the fender in city driving...

  17. I am willing to say 99.9% sure those are dropped spindles

    Hnstray likes this.
  18. Dropped spindle, the caliper mounting is rotated back. On OEM the top mounting bolt comes in straight horizontally. Quick way to indentify
Bearing numbers are the same for the Mustang 11 or Granada. The rotors are 5 lug Mustang 11.

  19. Unless they are TCI dropped Spindles which use a larger diameter bearing than stock MII

  20. I'm pretty sure the spindle pin is the same size, so same bearings. IF ordering a big rotor kit with seperate hub/rotors then good chance the bearings are different.

  21. It does look like the standard MII bearings - just covering all bases :)

  22. If those are not Hiedt's dropped spindle you may want to change them anyway. Are the bottoms of the lower "A" arms even with the bottom of the Xmember when parked ? Which it is supposed to be. Coil springs may have been cut to achieve lower ride . I believe there are a few springs available from NAPA for the MII/Pinto front end and Eaton spring will work with you to make a spring for your particular application until it is right. I have aftermarket/ 5 lug stock type rotorsin my 31 and the stopping power is awful. Even with aggressive pads. I will someday go to granada 11" rotors dropped spindle and may change springs and then power if necessary.

  23. Yes sir. I've installed a few, both OEM and dropped, stock rotor and Large OEM(granada or GM), and always used the readily available bearing kits for the Mustang 11. I also don't want to mislead, so if we find something different, we'll post it.

I would look over the crossmember install

Not that anything is wrong as I can not see from the pictures , but quality welds are very important here

Definitely MkII arms, definitely MkII a-arms, definitely not OEM spindles. I just spent several hours yesterday and today taking the front suspension apart on my car and putting it back together and those spindles do not look like my spindles. I think there's a good chance they are dropped spindles.
New stock height spindles are not very expensive, and I believe Speedway is now selling Mustang two spindles that are actually raised an inch and a half? Either way, it's not a very difficult fix. You're just going to need spindles.

I ended up ordering a set via summit since they are in-state... Hoping it works out.

I have to say... I've never 'lifted' a hot rod.

I have put this in another post but will review here. I have 1941 ford pu with stock m11 front end. I thought when I put the truck together I needed 11in brake on a stock frontend such as you have to upgrade to larger brakes you have to clearance the lower control arm or else when you tighten bearings rotor will not turn. now the moral to all of this is my brother in laws 40 truck same frontend has the same brakes as yours and stops just as good if not better just food for thought.
