Ok, I have a weird question...

I'm new to the Model A and Deuce thing, and after looking on here, Evilbay and other online sites i have one question....
WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED TO ALL THE DECK LIDS?..........

 

country folks took them off to haul something, then the cows walked on'em.

drivers doors were taken off trucks (and not put back on) to make it easy to get in and out

 

Gas rationing during WWII.........many cars were "converted" to pickups.
