I think I remember reading that they came out in the early '60's ('62-'63??).
Congrats on the score! How about some pics? I heard the two in the photos I posted went to Japanese collectors for BIG money.

While searching for a metal flake finger grip wheel I ran accross this site ,, kind of neat .
I have this finger grip flake in the parts for sale section......
How big is it ? I am looking for a 10" , 11" or a 12" wheel
Looking in to fixing my current wheel and going with a flake on it.
The wheel has plenty of cracks and gaps. So I will need to restore it. I tried searching but apparently I fail at it. Is there a thread on here regarding restoring a steering wheel?
Who makes this?!?!
Grant still makes this same wheel,in 15" with a 41/8" dish. No metalflake,no fingergrips, foamy or wood rim. Speedway Motors has them.
a little brass wool & creamy car wax,,
oh i dont know...maybe...GRANT!
OK, steering wheel cognoscenti....did any of the wheel makers ever do a flat four spoke 'flake wheel? I would love to have a red one for the going to be Oxblood interior in my roadster.
This wheel's been in my truck for probably over 30 years. I've never seen another like it in person... Only here on the HAMB classifieds, I've seen two 'flake' wheels come up with the same type of spokes. Can anyone ID the brand for me? It's about a 14"...Thanks...
(sorry, these are the best pics I have of it)
Ive searched and searched but cant find a blue metalflake, 15" wheel....I think I found one once, but it cost about the same as my soul....
Anyone know of any?
oh i dont know...maybe...GRANT![/QUOTE]
Ehh, forget it, I'm just going to paint my wheel.
Thought I picked up one gold flake and 2 solids (1 yellow, 1 ivory) this weekend, but I got home and did a quick clean.....the yellow one has green flake under it! Pics this evening!
Thats a Grant wheel, I traded a NOS one to Hidden a while back for some artwork.
Does anyone know where I can get my hands on a purple metal flake wheel?
Thread looks a little dead, but I'd like to throw out that I'm in the market for an orange flake for my '53 chevy if anyone is willing to part with theirs.
Wow i didn't know people where still after these. I have a gold flaked one on my 62' impala that I really don't know how old it is. I know its been on the car forever it seems (im only 30 so I am not sure which one of my past relatives put it on there and when). Ill post a pic of it tomorrow. Personally not too fond of it actually...may sell it since there are people out there that want these style steering wheels.
Gold ones are sought after. Pix of yours please.
