Event Coverage Official 2016 Meltdown Drags Thread - What are you doing to get ready?

Calm before the Storm.

 

Saw this at a show in Aledo ILL, last Saturday. The truck is a 1955 Dodge ex-fire truck, with the original Red Ram Hemi. The 62 Tempest has a Pontiac aftermarket block, heads, etc. and a 57 - 64 Pontiac rear axel. Still has some work to do, though. Way, Way Cool.

By the way, I might have a line on a 63 LeMans, if you're still looking. Will know more in a couple of weeks.

 

Got a reply back from Rock Falls Raceway ( signed up for the Meltdown Fall Fall Out )

Went to the June 4-5 event and had a great time, During Saturday test & tune not many Cars ( bring lots of gas )
they were waiting for cars to come to stage.
Staff & Racers there very friendly and its the cleanest track I have ever been to.

Does any one know if they will have the track open again for Friday night camping?
Or parking in next field over night?

Looks like are next outing will be at US 41 Motorplex Morocco In on the 17th of September and the 15th of October.
They have started a new Nostalgia Super Stock class that some of the 409 bunch will be going to.

 

Norb you should make the trip down here sometime.
To the land of high temperature, high humidity and cheep beer gas prices can vary.

 

Hey James guess since you are going to in on October 15 you won't make it to the hot rod reunion at Mokan on the 16th the big car show we went to last year is the 15th as well

Is the Fall Fallout a race that one would have to register for or just show up?
Is it a bracket race?
Would a old rusty 62 Chevy be welcome?

We are asking people to register so we know the cars meet our criteria.

It is going to be match racing, like the Meltdown. It is not a closed track, so we will make about 4 or 5 group runs each day and then you can run more if you want.

Lastly, that 62 is welcome anytime my friend.

I'm going to milan this weekend. if the rods aren't hanging out of the block I'm thinking of going. i haven't raced at rock falls in 25 years. do you have room for one more?
