My daily POS 94' nissan quest won't start. I swapped the battery with a spare and still nothing. I thing it's the ignition switch, because all the lights, etc work, and not a sound from the starter. Not a click, nothing. I checked the wiring to the starter, fine. The starter gave no signs of problems, so I really thingk it's the switch, but being a nissan it's not too cheap. Just wanted to see what you all think.
Have someone turn the key and you check to see if there is voltage to the starter. Also do all the accessorys work when you turn the key(radio, heater blower and wipers) if so then its not the switch. It may also be a starter relay but if my guess is the starter. You can find a shop that can bench test your starter to be sure.
Oaky, went out, checked every wire, fuse, relay, etc. (which there are a LOT on this car). I exchanged every ignition related fuse and relay with another (changed the 30amp fuse with the 30 for the power windows.) Got in and it cranked right up. The starter seems strong. Everything works, nothing was loose. This happens once every other month or so and I can't figure out why. The battery will be weak, so I'll charge it, but then it'll still give me a fit for a few hours, then start right up. I've been using 3 different batteries, so that's not it, and there's no drain when the cars off. Just a little gremlin in the system. Oh well, I'm gonna fix the brakes and sell it, I need a truck.
