Chop and perhaps a mild lowering.. but not to much in the front. It really looks good the way it sits already.... dont do a laying frame this.... that will ruin the car in my eyes.
These baby's need a taildragging stance to look right... but yes, a chop and skirts will bring this one into the real custom car heaven!
    Great find

I hate to disagree with the Rikster, but I would just lower it.

I'm all for the chop. Just don't go too far. Easy to screw up good proportions on those. The thing is, if left at stock hgt and skirted it doesn't need a chop, but dropped and smoothed a chop is mandatory. JMO...

Love those cars. Great plans for it too... just slam it, take 2" out of the frontof the roof, 3" out of the rear and you've got a gorgeous car.

  9. nice car. 40's cars are highly underated, swooped b-pillar and great lines-from a '41 poncho guy.

Awesome car!! Glad to hear that you are going to leave the drive train in there.
    That is a cool engine.

I wouldn't chop it, but it's not my car and it will look good either way.

Nice score! I've got one too. I don't know what it is, but for some reason even on the HAMB those cars make people nervous about cutting them up...I got the same "advice" when I bought mine. And I'm not going to listen to them either :)

If you do a search for "Buick Super Chop" on here, there was a decent thread with some examples of other Buicks that were nicely chopped. Mighty Sam's car is probably the best example I've seen (aside from the Pisano/Ogden car, but that's a different story because of the Carson top).

Does yours have the compound carb set up? I've got a bunch of info on easy mods to set those engines up to run a little stronger (mostly from the California Bill book and some old Hop Up articles). Let me know and I can scan and send over if you want.

I'd also be interested in hearing how the suspension is set up on yours. I had Jamco make a new set of springs for mine that set it down pretty nicely, but the back needs to come down further on mine. You can see that in the pic below, although the bottom of the right rear fender is slightly tweaked so it throws it off a little bit. Anyway, let us know how it's set up once you get under there and have a look. And keep us posted!

Oh yeah, and aside from letting us know about how the suspension is set up, are those the original 16" wheels or are they 15"s? Mine has 16s and I need a set of 15s to work with the caps I want to run...just seeing what you've got, because the stance is nice!

Front Stock suspension for now. Rear springs where removed and air bags installed. Also 16" wheels are one right now. I would love to get some info on hop ups. Compound???

Some of them had a factory dual intake and split exhaust manifolds with either stromberg or Carter carbs set up as a progressive linkage where the second carb kicks in at a certain point. Mine has carters, and it's a pretty neat set up. One of the hop ups for these is to do away with the progressive linkage and make them operate together. Anyway, Buick called this set up "compound carburetion" in all their factory literature. I'll scan and send you some info.
