Hi Hambers, I 've been around for a while. Some of you know me from the FAS, others from my '54 Dodge Kingsled (kingsway). I recently bought a "40 Mercury coupe from Spain (Barcelona), and brought it over to the Netherlands. The plan is to build a traditional custom, with the "Matranga Merc" in mind. The Merc is a right hand drive car from Argentina, and it's gonna changed into LHD. I really dig the traditional looks/ colors/ wheels/ interiors from the early customs, but I'll probably go for a modern engine/ driveline to keep up todays traffic and for long distance roadtrips. Cheers Ruben
COOL THREaD BRO,i AM CURRENTLY COLLECTING PARTS FOR MY 40 MERC. I CHOPPED IT FIRST SO i could get excited for the work ahead.ron
Nice one Rustryder! I found out that it's quite hard to find parts :-( I hope to find better rear fenders, mine are really rough.. Anybody knows or '40 ford ones are the same?
Cool car! Good luck with it. You guys do awesome car builds over there so I'll be watching this one too! NRM
Cool! You have a high standard to live up to with the car hauler. Well in the netherlands they make it so difficult you have to really really want the car..
He Ruben Great find and one of the very few in Holland. Reminds me to start again on my 39 Merc coupe that is collecting dust for about 9 years now. If you need some info or measurements come and look at my pile Groeten Hennie
Hi Ruben No i don't have spares. I tried to find running boards for it in Holland, cause mine are 50 % gone but without luck. My rear fenders are also pretty beat up and rusted. Is your car complete with windowtrim etc. ? My car has plenty rust but is mostly complete with nice trim, grill and dash and no mayor things missing. Good luck and talk to you later, Hennie
@Hennie- The car is for 90% complete. All the windowtrim is there, and in pretty good shape I have the same problem with the rear fenders, and the running boards are missing. The body is quite good. Also the interior is complete with all the window garnish, the original RHD Dash (good shape) , and a LHD dash is allready there.. You're lucky that you have the running boards, you can use them as a template for new ones. I'll problaby visit you when I need those LOL Cheers Ruben
Good to hear it's almost complete Ruben. Your welcome to come by and i will follow the progress on your car. Groeten Hennie
Another '40 Merc Coupe going under the knife. There's a handful being built right now on the HAMB. Never get enough of these cars Fryguy
You might check with Sledge here on the HAMB as He is currently working on two Merc coupes and has done others. He might have some Parts or know good sources. Good luck on Your build.
Hi folks, finally some updates... The merc went to Tristan Kustomizing (NL). Here are a few pics after sandblasting. There's a little more rust damage then we thought...
