Does anyone know of an outfit in the Portland area capable of plating bumpers, grilles, etc?

Also, is nickel any cheaper than chrome?

There are a few who would be considered technically "capable" although even fewer who are really used to doing parts for older cars, bikes, etc. and who have a good solid reputation. Starbright is one that some friends have used and whom I have gotten quotes from although I hear great things about Walker Plating in Redding.

I've seen some pretty bad product from Starbright...if it's worth the money to plate, consider looking outside the local area. My plating now goes to Advanced Plating: http://www.advancedplating.com/

Nothing is worth than getting something back and having to deal with the hassle of getting it fixed or even worse, replaced.

I just had a bunch of parts Chrome plated at AIH Chrome in Dubuque ,IA. I got a really good job on my bumpers and grill, and numerous other parts. It would have cost me 2 times the cost I paid if i went to Advanced Plating.

Talk to Steve Whalen he is the owner and will take care of you.

    The number is 1-800-782-8235.

He is capable of doing Matte Nickel or Bright Nickel. I saw both and they looked really cool. He can also plate dis-similar materials also. I had a bumper made out of steel with tight radius Stainless steel 90 degree ends on both ends. The plating job is awesome. All the plating is backed by a lifetime guarentee against rust or flaking, if it does he will re-plate it for free.

Can't go wrong with this guy...

Thanks for the great information everybody! I've got some seriously tired chrome but I think nickel looks really cool and I want to give it a shot.
