I bought one of those old Buicks when I was in high school just because I liked the grill. Had a lot of fun in that car. Welcome aboard friend, The PknBner
I just realized today, unless I knew in the past, and forgot - that Steel Phoenix is a girl. Welcome to the Hamb Mr. Steel Phoenix.
[ QUOTE ] i just bought a 50 buick 2 door super sadanette [/ QUOTE ] I always thot hardtops were Super's, or Riv's, or Century's, or ???...I've never heard a two-door hardtop called a Sedanet. A sedanet was Buick's, Pontiac's, Oldmobile's and Cadillac's fastback two door SEDAN...hence the name Sedanet. Anyone want to correct me on this...or am I right??? FWIW, welcome. R-
I thought you said Sedanette? That's a hardtop! (But still extremely cool!!!) And thanks for the head's up on yer old lady's post from yesterday. I missed that one. Congratulations on yall's new project!
well on the fender it says super, and the images ive found on the internet some have tacked on the name sadanette. i could be wrong. but i dont care the car is perfect for what we want to do. and thanks all for your support.
I think you must have forgotten. Its okay... my handle is non gender specific. Even Kirk made the same assumption. I'm pretty sure the '50 is not a Sedanette. I've been doing some research on exactly what model it is. Won't know until I get to do a lot more crawling around on the car. I'll have to take more pics and post them... maybe one of the Buick experts can help me out.
My understanding of a "Sedanette" as it pertains to 40s-early 50s GM cars is that it's the fastback style where the roof gracefully curves from the windshield to the rear bumper. Chevy called them "Fleetlines". This was to differentiate it from the regular stodgy old sedans. Yours is a hardtop, which is every bit as sought-after as the Sedanette... especially since they have a mild chop straight from the factory! I am not an expert, so if someone can correct me. please do! Either way, I'm jealous! I dig those mid-century Buicks! And to keep this thread on-topic, glad to have yall here!
