Yes, the Physician thing sort of explains why Castro went to Venezuela for his cancer treatment/surgery. I sure would't want a 40 dollar a month Dr. treating me, but it's probably not really much different in socialist Venezuela either. Same thing in Russia before the collapse, probably even still, where their "Drs." only have specific training, where an "ear Dr." was only taught about the ear, and nothing else. At one of the hospitals I worked, one of the janitors was a physician in Communist Russia, and could't even be licensed as a CNA in this country. I am Butch/56sedandelivery.

Probably get flat screens like we do; from China or Korea. I enjoy the show. It's worth watching. Lifting the embargo will be interesting.

  5. The best part was that the guys are real. The U.S. car builders on the cable shows have such large and complex egos. It was refreshing to see a show without that noisy nonsense.

Down there they spend a lot of time machining nuts and bolts if they don't have them. If trade barrier ever drops, I've got a few five gallon buckets of fasteners they'd love to have...

This maybe a stupid question, but if they can get TV's and cell phones from China, then why can't they get car parts from there? From what's in our parts stores, China makes most of the craps they sell.

I'm guessing that The American companys that have China build their stuff can't sell it in Cuba. Other Countries around the world might be able to!! Pete

Maybe it is that they aren't stupid and don't want to buy the crap that is made in China?

Funny...all the parts the auto parts want to sell me here are made everywhere but the US....China..Turkey...Canada..Mexico. Why don't Cubans buy parts from those countries? No money....period. The embargo has zero to do with it.

Makes one appreciate the simple things that we take for granted, like a friggin safe functional battery charger, or welding without gloves or welding helmet, or finding a SBC part......I dont know, maybe a Merc Crusier in a Ranchero or clapped out 50s era Oldsmobile will catch on.....
You have to hand to those guys, they are resourceful, because they have to be, WE live in a great country....

Still trying to figure out what went into making that 3-window coupe - doors look '32, roof looks like maybe back half of a '34 sedan roof?

Looks like they're anticipating the American tourists - a car-for-sale ad in Revolico (which means "jumble", it's the Cuban Craigslist) for this Model A has a tagline that translates to "Good business for when the ferryboats come!"

  15. I think it needs more drama. How about a time limit for posts? Maybe get a few guest stars like Burt Reynolds to post up a few comments. Or we could fire a few people.
