Hey there. I've gotten a lot of great information out of this forum, so I thought it was long overdue that I join up officially. I'm a web developer, graphic designer and music producer living in Austin, TX. My car is a 1965 Plymouth Fury III with a 318 poly motor, 3x2 carb setup and dual exhaust.
Welcome! Sounds like we're cut out of the same wood - I'm in smartphone & tablet processor development, also in Austin. Run my own little data center as a hobby. Sent from my DROID device using the TJJ mobile app
BTW 2.30am - and I thought I was the only one burning that midnight oil Are you going to the lone star roundup this fri/sat? Sent from my DROID device using the TJJ mobile app
Hey there Spira.. hello from another Austinite. Funny I'm a former graphic designer working for Apple now, and semi-retired musician. Hell we may have run into eachother at some time. Really nice car!
Thanks for the welcome and compliments on the car. I wish I could say I was responsible for most of what you see on the outside, but I got it with the paint and body work already done. castirondude and AustinThunderbird: good to see some fellow Austinites here. I'm originally from Kansas, but I've been here in Austin for about 4 years now and not going anywhere soon. I've come across a few other motorheads, but my strange split personality of vintage nostalgia with a modern high tech background doesn't always fit in. And I'm always burning the midnight oil.. the life of an insomniac/night owl! I will be out and about for the roundup. I'm thinking of saving myself some gas; gonna take the Fury out and find a prime parking spot on S Congress early Friday afternoon to get the car out in the mix, catch a ride or walk home and then do my cruising on the motorcycle.. no idling down SoCo for me I may try to wander either South or North and check out some of these side parties going on as well. I'm looking forward to seeing some impressive machines and meeting some interesting people!
Welcome Spira! You have a drop-dead beautiful Mopar and I am glad you have "Poly-Power!" The 318 Poly is a great engine. Take care, Gary Pavlovich
Hate to go OT here but I have to ask if you have lived in Austin long enough to know what happened to that dirt track out on 183 next to Bergstrom Air Base? If not thanks anyway. Jeff
